Cuba City, Wisconsin Walter G. Zart, 91, of Cuba City, Wisconsin, died Friday, March 6, 2015, at Mercy Medical Center-Dubuque. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 9, 2015, at Casey Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Cuba City with Pastor Dan Verdegan officiating. Burial will be in Liberty Ridge Cemetery in Lancaster with military rites accorded. Friends may call from 2-6 p.m. Sunday, March 8, 2015, and after 9 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Walter was born on November 27, 1923, in Liberty Ridge, Wisconsin, the son of Adam and Mabel (Heberlein) Zart. He married Norma Levins on April 11, 1942, at the Methodist Parsonage in Lancaster. She preceded him in death on May 8, 2012. Walter served as a paratrooper in the Screaming Eagles of 101st Airborne Division of the US Army from the invasion of Normandy Beach to the end of WWII. He worked at the Dubuque Packing Company for 21 years. Survivors include his children, Louise Heiligenthal, of Belmont, Larry (Sharon) Zart, of Soldiers Grove, William Zart, of Belmont, and Gale (James) Trewartha, of Hazel Green; his brother, William (Sandy) Zart, of Oregon, Wisconsin; two sisters, Dorothy Sanger, of Lancaster, and Eva Fish, of Madison; a sister-in-law, June Zart, of Mineral Point; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his parents, a son-in-law, Robert Heiligenthal; a daughter-in-law, Pat Zart; three brothers, Carl, Frank and Robert Zart; two brothers-in-law, Robert Sanger and Clarence Fish; and two sisters-in-law, Norma and Rose Zart. A Walter G. Zart Memorial Fund has been established.
