Viola was born on June 19, 1932, in Tennyson, Wisconsin, the daughter of Philip and Elizabeth (Holzer) Muller. She married Robert L. Richard on April 19, 1949, at Holy Ghost Church, Dickeyville, Wisconsin. He preceded her in death on July 6, 2007. She later married Robert G. Necker on June 2, 2012, at Immaculate Conception Church, Kieler, Wisconsin, and he preceded her in death on April 14, 2021.

Viola was a devoted member of the Immaculate Conception parish community, where she faithfully served in the CCW, sang in the church choir, and taught CCD. She was also proud to be part of the Red Hat Ladies. Though she occasionally worked as a waitress at The Dugout and Fred’s and later as a hostess at Seven Hearts Supper Club, most of her life was lovingly devoted to raising her twelve children. Her strong faith was the foundation of her life, and she found great joy in introducing others to Jesus. A musician, she played both piano and guitar and was active in the Southwest Wisconsin Christian Experience Weekend. Known for her welcoming spirit, Viola was always ready with a warm home, sound advice, or a helping hand whenever it was needed.
