Sister Catherine Meyering, OP, died Dec. 7, 2025, at St. Dominic Villa, Hazel Green, Wis. Her Funeral Mass will take place Sat., Jan. 10, 2026, at 1 p.m. in St. Clara Chapel, Sinsinawa. Casey-McNett Funeral Home and Cremation Services is handling arrangements.

Catherine was born May 13, 1928, to Julius and Katherine (Doyle) Meyering in Evanston, Ill. She made profession with the Dominican Sisters of Sinsinawa in 1952 and received the religious name Sister Jules. She earned a BA in French from Rosary College (now Dominican University), River Forest, Ill., and an MA in French from Western Reserve University, Cleveland, Ohio.

Sister Catherine's ministry has been dedicated to teaching. For 32 years, she taught at Trinity High School, River Forest. She was a French teacher at St. Cecilia Cathedral High School, Omaha, Neb.; St. Joseph Cathedral High School, Sioux Falls, S.D.; Dominican High School, Whitefish Bay, Wis.; and Wahlert High School, Dubuque, Ia. She ministered for five years at Holy Family Hospital, Des Plaines, Ill. She then retired to the Motherhouse, Sinsinawa Mound, in 2007. She moved to St. Dominic Villa in 2025.

Sister Catherine was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Jules. She is survived by a niece, two nephews, and her Dominican Sisters. Memorials may be made to the Dominican Sisters of Sinsinawa, 585 County Road Z, Sinsinawa, Wis., or given online at www.sinsinawa.org/donate.
