Milo William Schwingle, loving husband and father, was born November 26, 1947 and raised on a family farm outside of Highland, WI. Following graduation as valedictorian from Highland High School, he went on to graduate from UW-Madison in 1969 with a bachelor's degree in dairy science. A&W Root Beer stand of Muscoda, WI was where Milo met Susan Honer, eventually leading to a wonderful 55-year marriage. Shortly after their marriage in 1970, Milo and Susan joined the Peace Corps where they taught in Kenya, East Africa, and had many memorable adventures. Milo remembered how to speak Swahili well into his 70s.
Milo led a full and active life of work and service. Following their two-year experience with the Peace Corps, Milo’s career focused on marketing management and technical support for agricultural feed companies. He enjoyed working for Murphy Products, Supersweet Feeds, Dalex Computer Systems, Diamond V, and Quality Liquid Feeds, from which he retired in 2014. He went on to volunteer as a driver for DuRide of Dubuque and also worked for Zander Tax Services in Dodgeville WI.
Milo is cherished and survived by his wife Susan Schwingle, daughter Jennifer Schwingle, son Brian Schwingle, daughter-in-law Hillary Bastian, granddaughters Sylvia Schwingle and Finley Schwingle, sister Lorna Schwingle-Glass, and sister-in-law Ann Schwingle.
Preceding Milo in death are his parents, Glenn and Alnetta Schwingle, brothers David and Lloyd Schwingle, brother-in-law Rollie Glass, and mother-in-law and father-in-law Lawrence and Dorothy Honer.
Milo adored his family, and was grateful for their many blessings. He was a lover of the great outdoors, travel, and biking. He will be forever remembered and missed by his family, friends, and coworkers.
The family would like to thank the amazing staff at Luther Manor and Hospice Care of Dubuque for their wonderful care of Milo during his final weeks of life, as well as their kindness to the family. Thank you also to St. Dominic Villa.
