Mary was born on March 8, 1944, in Otter Creek, Iowa, the daughter of Ted and Loretta (Herbst) Hoffmann. She married Edmund “Eddie” Lange on October 21, 1961, in Otter Creek, Iowa. He preceded her in death on September 26, 2015.

Mary was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. A homemaker at heart, she also worked alongside her husband, Eddie, on the family farm, pouring her heart and soul into raising her children and caring for her family. Mary enjoyed gardening, canning, sewing, quilting, and playing cards. She loved baking and was especially known for her beautiful wedding cakes. Her creative talents extended to arts and crafts, and she shared that passion by teaching ceramics at Holy Ghost School. In addition to her work on the farm, Mary was employed at Advance Transformer and Mueller’s Restaurant. She was a faithful member of Holy Ghost Church and an active member of the Christian Mothers’ Club. Mary enjoyed going out to eat, particularly appreciating a good salad bar. At home, she found great joy in watching the hummingbirds that gathered around her many feeders. Mary will be remembered as a caring, dedicated, and determined woman who always put her family first.

She is survived by a son, Roger (Vonda) Lange, Platteville, WI; four daughters, Sheila Udelhofen, Potosi, WI, Jean Rolfe and Karla (Dave) Leuchs, both of Dubuque, IA, and Julie (Bill) Digman, of Cuba City, WI; two sisters, Erma (John J.) Decker and Clementine Manders, both of Dubuque, IA; a brother, Floyd (Luetta) Hoffmann, Independence, IA; thirteen grandchildren, Jessica (Bradley) Coyne, Tiffany Lange, Brandon (fiancée, Hannah Wienen) Lange, Brianna Udelhofen, Corey Udelhofen, Jacob Rolfe, Andrew Rolfe, Charles Rolfe, Jeremy Rolfe, Dominick (Andrea) Digman, Danielle (Jon) Armstrong, Dylan (Mikayla Willenborg) Digman and Dustin Digman; ten great-grandchildren with one on the way; her in-laws, Rita Hoffmann, JoAnn Ubersox, Vanessa Hoffmann and Bob Manders; and her cat, Buttons.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edmund “Eddie” Lange; her parents; three brothers, Sylvester (Mary Jane) Hoffmann, Richard Hoffmann, and Kenneth Hoffmann; her parents-in-law, Frank and Louise Lange; and her in-laws, Mary Agnes (Ossie) Tranel and John (Evelyn) Lange.
