Leila C. Stierman, 98, of Dickeyville, Wisconsin, formerly of Kieler, Wisconsin, passed away Friday, July 10, 2026. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 16, 2026, at Immaculate Conception Church, Kieler, Wisconsin, with Rev. Joseph Bellamkonda officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 15, at the Immaculate Conception Church Parish Center. A second visitation will take place from 9:00 to 10:45 a.m. Thursday, prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Leila was born on November 6, 1927, in Kieler, Wisconsin, the daughter of Chris and Mary (Dalsing) Pickel. She married Roman Bonifas on May 23, 1951, and he preceded her in death on November 6, 1975. She later married Bert Stierman on July 25, 1981, and he preceded her in death on January 8, 2011.

A woman of deep faith and unwavering devotion to her family and community, she was a faithful member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Parish, where she sang in the church choir and was an active member of the Council of Catholic Women. She generously shared her time through many years of volunteer service, including as a 4-H leader, Den Mother for the Cub Scouts, a member of the Fire Department Auxiliary, helping with community picnics and meals, and a driver for elderly residents through Grant County. She also served as treasurer for the Kieler Sanitary District. Throughout her career, she worked at Adams Company, Kunkel’s Gambels Store, and the University of Wisconsin–Platteville as an administrative assistant.

She found joy in sewing, knitting, crocheting, reading, gardening, and spending time outdoors. Some of her happiest memories were made camping with family, gathering for annual family vacations at Balsam Lake, celebrating Christmas in La Crosse, enjoying Sunday picnics at Governor Dodge State Park, taking girls' trips with her daughters and daughters-in-law, and visiting relatives whenever she could. She was known for her strong will, deep faith, intelligence, and competitive spirit. She especially loved playing euchre, solo and bowling with friends and took great pleasure in teaching her grandchildren how to play cards, creating traditions and memories they will cherish for years to come.

Survivors include her children, Mary (Scott) Jensen, Chaska, MN, Cathy (John) Parks, Mountain View, CA, Bob (Sandy) Bonifas, Stevens Point, WI, Donna (Chuck Oldenberg) Davenport, New Berlin, WI, Dave (Karen) Bonifas, La Crosse, WI; a daughter-in-law, Kim Bonifas; her stepchildren, Carol (Bob) Leach, Dubuque, IA, Eric (Julie) Stierman, Dubuque, IA, Lisa (Frank Doherty) Stierman, Mound, MN; her sister, Doris Ihm, Kieler, WI; her in-laws, Bruce Pluemer, Woodland Park, CO, and Verna Bonifas, Dubuque, IA; 20 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husbands; her parents; a son, John Bonifas; siblings, Eldon (Agnes) Pickel, Lyle (Judy) Pickel, Velma (Paul) Moor, Lorraine Pluemer; and a brother-in-law, Bill Ihm.
