Karen was born on November 9, 1944, in Dubuque, Iowa, the daughter of Lawrence and Louanna (Ginter) Richardson. She was united in marriage to David Reese on February 13, 1965, at Holy Ghost Catholic Church.
Karen was a proud 1962 graduate of Cuba City High School and dedicated much of her life to helping others—both professionally and personally. She worked as a bookkeeper for several companies, finishing her career at Heritage Lighting, and continued offering her expertise to local organizations and friends long after retirement. Passionate about genealogy and history, Karen was the retired president of the Lafayette County Genealogical Society and the active president of the Grant County Genealogical Society. She also played a key role in preserving local heritage by assisting with cemetery and church history in Dickeyville. Karen served as treasurer for the Friends of the Grotto and as both treasurer and secretary for the 1891 Financial, Court 228.
Her love of music was shared through playing piano at church Masses, and she joyfully donated her time to the parish garage sale. Karen and her husband volunteered side by side on the Dickeyville Rescue Squad for over a decade. She was an avid bowler, honored with induction into the Hall of Fame at Sunset Lanes, and cherished the friendship of her card-playing group. To her children, Karen was the music in their home and a constant source of kindness and support. Her husband fondly remembered knowing she was special from the moment they met—and together, they shared over 60 wonderful years of love and partnership.
Survivors include her husband, David Reese of Dickeyville, WI; her children, Marlo Reese of Waukesha, WI, Karla Grube of Elizabeth, IL, and Larry Reese of Dickeyville, WI; a grandson, Trevor Grube; and her brother, Keith Richardson of Middleton, WI.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Louanna Richardson; a son-in-law, Carl Grube; and a sister-in-law, Grace Richardson.
Memorials in Karen’s name may be sent to the funeral home at 123 N. Jackson St., Cuba City, WI 53807.
