Colleen M. Kunkel, 93, formerly of Dickeyville Wisconsin, passed away Friday, December 12, 2025, at Monroe Health Services in Monroe, Wisconsin. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 18, 2025, at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, Dickeyville, Wisconsin, with Rev. Joseph Bellamkonda officiating. Burial will take place the church cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday from 9-10:45 a.m. at the church prior to the service. Casey-McNett Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Cuba City, Wisconsin, is assisting the family.
Colleen was born on December 3, 1932, in Lancaster, Wisconsin, the daughter of Joseph and Freda (Kreiser) Linden. She married Leonard Hesseling on January 12, 1954. He preceded her in death on August 8, 1964. She then married Gilbert Kunkel on June 1, 1968, at Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Dickeyville. He preceded her in death on January 30, 2017.
Colleen was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. In addition to raising her children, she worked at Valentine’s restaurant for ten years, Sears for six years and at Mercy Hospital. Colleen enjoyed bowling, reading, camping and keeping in touch with friends. Above all, she loved spending time with her family.
She is survived by her children, Joe Hesseling, Capitan, NM and Kevin (Michelle) Kunkel, Pecatonica, IL; a daughter-in-law, Rita Hesseling, of Kieler; a sister-in-law, Nancy Linden, Delavan, WI; four grandchildren, Cory (Sarah) Hesseling, Tyler (Kelly) Hesseling, Makenzie (Garrett) Mellentine, and Maddy (fiancé, Kevin Lamb) Kunkel; and seven great-grandchildren, Hailey, Madison, Kylie, Taylor, Elizabeth, Josie and Clara.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Leonard Hesseling; her second husband, Gilbert Kunkel; her parents; a son, Jerry Hesseling; a granddaughter, Kailee Kunkel; and two brothers, Stanley Linden and Mervin Linden.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Colleen’s name may be sent to the Casey-McNett Funeral Home at 123 N. Jackson St., Cuba City, WI 53807.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Monroe Health Services and special niece Kathi Jurkowski for their compassionate care of Colleen.
