Carissa was born June 25, 1970, in Dubuque, IA, the daughter of Ronald and Lavon (Pickel) Heinricy. She was a proud graduate of Wahlert Catholic High School, before going on to attend both travel and dealer schools. She also earned a business degree from NICC.
She dedicated the last 20 years of her career to Q Casino + Resort, where she worked as a dual-rate dealer, often being specifically requested by some of her favorite players. She would come home every day with a new story of her time spent at work, no two days were ever the same. The family would like to especially thank the team at Q Casino, who Carissa lovingly referred to as her “second family” for allowing Carissa to work until the very end, and for the unwavering support offered to the entire family over the last several months.
Above all, Carissa loved spending time with her family. She made it a priority to never miss a single event that any of her nieces had going on. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Carissa is survived by her mother, Lavon Heinricy, of Kieler, WI; her sister Carla (Tony) Schueller of Dubuque, IA; and her three nieces: Kayla Schueller, of Dubuque, IA, Courtney (Ben Pfab) Schueller of Chicago, IL, and Kylie Schueller, of Cedar Falls, IA.
She was preceded in death by her father, Ron Heinricy.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Munish Ashat and the staff of University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Diane Ogelsby and the team at Palliative Care at the Dubuque Cancer Center, and the staff of Hospice of Dubuque. A special thank you to two of Carissa’s biggest life-long supporters, Bob and Peg Pitzen, for everything.
Memorials in Carissa’s name may be sent to Casey-McNett Funeral Home at 123 N Jackson St, Cuba City, Wisconsin 53807.
